Cutter Gauthier, a Boston College of the NCAA player, has recently torched the internet with his declaration of leaving the Flyers despite his initial interest in the team. The team traded the player to the Ducks in exchange for Jamie Drysdale. This trade angered the whole Flyers community and fans took things into their own hands.
They made sure to let the 19-year-old know how upset they were with his decision to quit. Gauthier revealed that former Flyers player Kevin Hayes was not the only one to receive death threats, but he too drew the ire of the fans. After two days of silence, since the news broke out, several speculations were made both by fans and reporters of Cutter Gauthier’s sudden leave. John Tortorella blasts reporter for framing Kevin Hayes in Cutter Gauthier’s trade
Philadelphia Flyers head coach John Tortorella blasted reporter Anthony SanFilippo on Wednesday during the press conference against the Canadiens. Following the team’s 3-2 win, Tortorella boldly called out SanFilippo charred him for blaming Kevin Hayes over Cutter Gauthier’s trade.
He slammed SanFilippo saying how he didn’t “have the right sources” yet spewed “b***sh*t” which dragged an innocent player into the mess. Despite Hayes leaving the Flyers due to disagreement with Torts, he admitted that as a player and person, he’s “a good man”. But what “you said is going to stay with him” including getting dozens of death threats.

Hayes called SanFilippo “a f***ing clown” and asked him to stop “making sh*t up” without verified proof on his Instagram account. Gauthier also revealed that his decision was due to personal reasons that involved not only him, but also his family, and even agent Kurt.
He also cleared Hayes’ name, saying “he had zero, zero conflict with anything that had to do with the trade.” Gauthier admitted that he may not be able to reveal all the reasons right now and would also prefer to keep it a secret, but later on in the future he may talk about this trade mess and let the fans know what happened behind the curtains.
Gauthier also addressed the rumor of him being scared of John Tortorella. He noted that isn’t the case and he never has been scared of a strict coach. He recalled how “super excited and thrilled” he was to meet him during development camp two years ago.
Now that being said, the saga of the Cutter Gauthier trade seems to have concluded. Although there are yet numerous questions left unanswered, Gauthier hopes to share them in the future. As of now, he’ll be starting his new chapter with the Anaheim Ducks.
