CALDWELL, Idaho (CBS2) — A Caldwell city councilmen who resigned in September has been reappointed and is now the council president.
Brad Doty was elected as a city councilor while he was still serving as a Idaho State Police trooper. According to retirement laws for Idaho's PERSI retirement system, there is a mandatory 30-day period after retirement before a retiree may take any paid position.
To follow the law and abide by the regulations of PERSI, Doty resigned his seat in September and waited out his full 30 plus day waiting period, before Mayor Wagoner recommended his reappointment to Seat #1, which was passed unanimously at Tuesday nights meeting. City Council members then voted, again unanimously, to name Doty the Council President for the remainder of the year.
Caldwell Mayor Wagoner said "After his faithful service to the Idaho State Police, we are happy to have Councilor Doty back in his seat, allowing him to fill the term he was duly elected to."
