After the welterweight title fight at UFC 286, there have been several changes in the dynamics of the division. UFC president Dana White announced that Belal Muhammad will be taking on Shavkat Rakhmonov next.
“What’s next for Belal? Rakhmonov — we’re working on it,” White said at the UFC 286 post-fight press conference. Since the announcement, Rakhmonov fans have taken their time to flood Muhammad’s Instagram account with comments. It seems like the Kazakh fans are eager to see their fighter beating ‘Remember The Name’ next.
Surprisingly, it’s not the first time something like this is happening, as Rakhmonov’s fans also did the same with former welterweight title contender, Colby Covington. It happened when Rakhmonov publicly declared his interest in fighting ‘The Chaos’ in the future.

Former UFC Champion talks about Belal Muhammad’s only chance to fight for the UFC Welterweight title
Belal Muhammad is one of the most talented UFC Welterweights in recent times and has been giving strong performances for some time now. The fighter is currently on an eight-fight winning streak and was expected to get a title shot. However, it seems like Colby Covington has already won that race, and Muhammad will be fighting Shavkat Rakhmonov.
Recently in one of his YouTube videos, Daniel Cormier talked about what Muhammad will have to do in order to get close to the title shot next. According to the former double champion, Muhammad should fight Kamaru Usman and get a high-profile win to be taken seriously by the UFC in the future.
He said: “I think him [Kamaru Usman] vs. Belal might be the one because Belal needs that, like, high-profile win to make people take him seriously.” Muhammad has been at the receiving end of a disappointment for quite some time now. It seems like the fighter really needs to do something radical to get a shot at the UFC gold.
